One thing me and my friends will always do is splurge on delicious food and Mon Ami did not miss!!! First we started off with our espresso martinis which are honestly the BEST ive ever had and I credit this to their housemade coconut syrup!! Then we had a delicious trio-hummus spread. I wanna say the feta was my favorite but honestly they were allllllll soooo good, the other two we got were the baba ghanoush and the classic hummus! Then we got a salad (i dont remember the name, but it was good! It had a ton of feta which we loved but we couldve lived without this item tbh. The lobster pasta was AMAZING. delicious sauce and big pieces of lobster which is always a plus! Also I need to shout out our amazing waitress, I was curious about this tomato basil inspired cocktail but am not a huuuge fan of tomato and she assured me it was a more citrusy drink and so I decided to take the risk and try it. She was right! It was soooo good I would actually order it again, she said she always recommends this and its one of her favs, well now its mine too! We went for an early dinner so it was empty and it was nice to feel like we had the restaurant to ourselves. Had a nice intimate feel to the ambiance! Would definitely return with my habibi
I had no idea this place was even in here, you should definitely check it out! It is tucked into a little corner right off of Santa Monica Blvd. across from the pier. The location is perfect! We wandered in here one afternoon and it was completely empty, I think they had just opened. We ordered a couple of drinks at the bar and let the bartender know that I wish sugar-free. She went above and beyond, and made me a homemade blueberry mint something or other, that satisfied my request. I love when places are willing to accommodate my sugar-free limitations and make it delicious for me. I will be coming back here and recommending to all of my friends. To the bartender that took the time, good on you girl!
This restaurant has such a great location--right near the ocean, making it super convenient. The atmosphere is lovely, especially if you sit on their beautiful terrace. Highly recommend trying the Chicken Tajine--so flavorful and delicious! Other food didn't impress us that much but we would give it another chance! Definitely a great spot to check out if you're in Santa Monica.
A perfect place for a nice dinner, especially because it is a bit hidden. The service is fantastic, beautiful, intimate ambiance. I loved my whole experience here, they even gave us a complimentary glass of champagne with our dinner for New Year's Eve. I ordered their berry margarita, and I was absolutely floored! Their steak was delicious, super juicy and a perfect portion to share with your table even. Their lobster pasta was to die for! I can't wait to come again and try other menu items.
Phenomenal restaurant all around -- delicious food, beautiful ambiance and incredible location nestled on Ocean Ave. right by Santa Monica Pier, and fantastic service. Lobster alla catalana pasta 5/5 - Lives up to the hype, so delicious with a bit of a spicy kick, strong lobster flavor with lobster pieces throughout and fresh basil Chicken tagine 5/5 - delicious flavors and well balanced, the serving size is huge and served in a traditional tagine! Can likely serve 3 comfortably, may be nice to also order a side of carbs to soak up the scrumptious sauce Perfect for a date night; offers both indoor with bar and outdoor seating with heat lamps so can be dog friendly. Beautifully decorated and themed both inside and outside with overarching vines and lights in the outdoor patio area. Access right on Ocean Ave with the restaurant tucked at the end of the pathway around other restaurants; there is a hostess and podium with the restaurant sign right on Ocean Ave. to direct you in. For some reason, Google Maps suggested entering from the back of the restaurant, which is not the best way to enter. A bit on the pricier side but reasonable for this prime location and with hearty portion sizes. Overall highly recommended!
Wow! I walked in saying I'm not that much of a fan of hummus and walked out saying that's the best hummus I've ever had! First, this place is beautiful and so tucked away. We thought we were at the hostess for the mexican resturant next door, but then she showed us the menu for Mon Ami and we were sold. We arrived around 7:30ish on a Sunday night and it was pretty quiet. We chose to sit outside with the warmers because it was so pretty out there. Our service was phenomenal! We ended up getting a platter to share with hummus, whipped feta, and shwarma spiced mushroom skewers. The pita that came with it was warm, soft, and sooooo good. The hummus was so creamy and the flavor was so on point. We ended with a strawberry sorbet which I originally said I didn't want but ended up eating like a third. The color was beautifully bright and the texture was icy but creamy. I've never tasted a sorbet like it. I was blown away by everything about this place and so glad we had stumbled upon it! Please seek it out and give it a try!!
This was truly a 5 star experience and the food is definitely amazing, but our server Jay really made such a great impact. He was attentive, funny, helpful and really took our experience up a notch. This is such a great spot, hidden back a little from the main hustle and bustle of Santa Monica (you wouldn't think a few steps makes a difference, but it does!) We had the berry margarita, regular margarita, a mezcal drink and an Aperol spritz to start and all were amazing! We did a mezze board with humus and feta dip, prawns, and potato zepole. It's a great option if you aren't sure which you like and want a tiny sample of each. If you have a big group maybe opt for the full size options, but the sample was great for the 4 of us! We loved the potato!! For our mains we split the lobster pasta, 7-spice chicken and the branzino. All of them were fresh and fabulous. Jay surprised us with some donuts that come with a berry compote and a homemade whipped cream and wow are they a show stopper! We were obsessed and were so glad we tried them. Overall you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu! Everything is fresh and locally sourced. And make sure to ask for Jay :)
Great meal, beautiful ambiance and excellent service!! We sat outside in the patio which is so pretty with the green vines cover overhead and the cute lights. Very very inviting! And it was perfect weather too surprisingly because apparently Labor Day weekend gets really hot but this time it was actually mild and nice. Lucked out for sure with our visit!! We ordered the Mezze platter - chose the chicken souvlaki skewers (4) since we were 4 of us, the hummus, the whipped feta, baba ghanoush, nas-o-musir, and the potato zeppole. It comes with a pita split in 4 quarters and some crudite veggies. We had to order additional pita because there were so many dips and spreads that was not enough. I would strongly suggest they add another pita to accompany this mezze platter. But everything was delicious! In addition we ordered the chicken tagine which is like a chicken stew with veggies. That was also quite tasty although we only ate a little as we were quite full already and got the rest for leftovers. We also ordered dessert - the loukoumades which are described as Greek donuts with honey drizzle served with a cardamom chantilly cream. We were all quite full so only ate one or two and took the rest for leftovers. The restroom was interesting - only 2 unisex stalls and a single sink. They definitely could use renovations and some updates. I took off a star for that reason- especially given the restaurant itself both inside and outside is really amazing in its decor - was expecting a much nicer bathroom. Overall a nice experience with great dinner and a great evening!
Mon Ami in Santa Monica deserves a solid 4 stars. The restaurant theme is excellent, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The waiters were fast and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The food was outstanding. The octopus was perfectly tender with a smoky, char-grilled flavor that was simply delectable. The 7 spice chicken was a standout, boasting a rich, aromatic blend of spices that offered a delightful kick without overwhelming the palate. The skewers were succulent and juicy, each bite bursting with savory goodness. The Caesar salad was fresh and crisp, with a creamy dressing that perfectly complemented the crunchy romaine. One minor downside was the surprisingly low number of patrons dining during our visit, which impacted the overall vibe. Additionally, I believe offering complimentary pita bread at each table would be a great enhancement. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend Mon Ami for a delightful dining experience. I left feeling excited and satisfied, eager for my next visit.
